The Geisha district in Asakusa, Tokyo is called Kagai. Its legacy began in the Edo era and has served countless guests through generations. Today, there are still about 20 Geisha and apprentices in Asakusa. The Geisha assignation office, Kenban, is situated behind Senso-ji Temple.

In addition to the Kenban, there is a training room and a stage for dancing, musical performances, tea ceremony, and other duties that the Geisha practice daily.

The main job of a geisha is to converse with guests and entertain through dancing, singing, and other performance arts. They may also accept media-related work, appearing on TV and in advertisements as models.

Asakusa hosts many popular events such as Setsubun, the Sanja Festival, and Kinryu no Mai. Geisha are invited to perform to elevate the occasion.

The Asakusa Odori dance, held every year in autumn, is the most prestigious and anticipated event for Asakusa Geisha.

The Kenban also hosts a variety of events throughout the year such as Hanami (cherry blossom season), beer tasting, and Geisha performances.
